Festival of Lights returns to downtown Riverside The city of Riverside will usher in the holiday season this weekend with the Switch-On Ceremony for the 31st annual Festival of Lights event on Nov. 18.The Switch-On Ceremony kicks off the popular attraction with a free fireworks show, live performances, family-friendly activities and plenty of holiday cheer.The ceremony will take place at Orange Street and Mission Inn Avenue right outside the Mission Inn Hotel and Spa at 5 p.m. on Saturday, with a fireworks show to follow.The Mission Inn Hotel & Spa’s Festival of Lights display in downtown Riverside, California. Michael Mena Dead, Jesus Cesena Arrested after Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash on South 12th Avenue [Tucson, AZ] 65-Year-Old Pedestrian Fatally Struck in Deadly Collision near Valencia RoadTUCSON, AZ (November 15, 2023) – Michael Mena lost his life and Jesus Cesena was arrested Sunday night in a hit-and-run incident on South 12th Avenue. First responders arrived to the scene near Valencia Road around 10:00 p.m.According to investigators, Jesus Enrique Camacho Cesena was driving a black Dodge Ram at approximately 70 mph with a female passenger. Per reports, Cesena then collided with Mena as he crossed South 12th Avenue alongside a companion.Medical personnel arrived and pronounced 65-year-old Mena dead at the scene. Following initial procedures, law enforcement detained 18-year-old Cesena on charges of felony hit-and-run causing serious injury or death. BART offers preview of new fare gates SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- Bay Area Rapid Transit revealed a photograph of its new head-high station fare gates.The gates will be installed systemwide as part of BART's latest effort to win riders back and overhaul safety in the system. The new fare gates will have a "new look and improved experience," boost safety by reducing fare evasion, and don modern technology, transit officials said.The overall fare gate array height (gate, console, integrated barrier) will form a tall barrier of 72” minimum to prevent fare evasion.Earlier this year, BART's Board of Directors approved a $90 million Next Generation Fare Gate project.
